Parquetry

Parquetry has been has been around for centuries and still is today. There are two types of parquetry, mosaic and block. Mosaic is the more traditional style of parquetry that consists of multiple “fingers” which make up one tile. The tiles can then be laid in numerous directions to achieve feature you desire in your home.

Block parquetry is the more common type of parquetry built in new homes which incorporate modern and traditional styles. Block parquetry can be laid in as several different patterns as each block is individually laid, the three most common patterns are square on square, herringbone and basket weave, however you can create your own pattern if you desire.

The parquetry also has grading systems, select (classic) and natural Australiana. Select grade explains itself, the majority of the blocks are clean and don’t show natural characteristics such as gum veins, or knots. The natural grade is also carefully selected to include the most interesting variations and distinctive timber markings to bring out those natural characteristics.
